Type of Chinese Tea: Black Tea

• History: Since originating in China an unfathomable 4,000 years ago, tea has evolved into six major categories and 15,000 known varieties, including our premium grade black tea. Because the colour of the liquor, black tea is also called red tea in China.


• Dry leaves appearance: A tea with fewer golden buds and more dark tea leaves. It is on par with the pure golden tips tea, and is priced similarly, but makes teas with slightly different characteristics.


• Origin: Fengqing, Yunnan, China. Well known for black teas and golden tips tea.


• Liquor: A brassy red colour with a gentle aroma and a sweet taste.


• Tea supplements: Vitamins A, B, C, E and K are all found in black tea (red tea). It is belived these vitamins help to prevent lung cancer and hair loss, strengthen the kidneys, enhance the immune system and increase blood circulation and metabolism.


• Tea benefits: Black tea has many positive effects on health including improving short term memory, aiding weight loss, strengthening heart beats, stimulating the central nervous system and preventing asthma.


• Tea storage: Keep the tea in a cool and dry place, avoid direct sunlight.


• Tea brewing: Put 1-3g of red tea leaves into a teapot. Steep them with hot spring or mineral water (80-100 degree) for two to three minutes, then serve. Add sugar, lemon juice or milk if preferred.
